The Center for Intensive English Studies at Florida State University needed a centralized business management system to encompass all the needs of the center, which to a large degree were different from those of the university as a whole. CIMES created a portal and content management system that encompassed student application and registration, course and session creation, faculty assignments, recording of grades and attendance, billing, and reporting.

Rover Library Systems

California Department of Public Health - California Tobacco Control Program

The California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Control Program funds a library and clearinghouse as part of their mission to reduce tobacco use in California. CIMES developed Rover, an integrated, web-based library portal designed to provide all the tools necessary for effective management and access to information and resources organized and published by the Tobacco Control Section Library and the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California. Rover is a robust and integrated information system and content management system that allows the staff to manage every facet of their content. Rover incorporates tools for managing the materials catalog, circulation, patrons, reference, distribution channels, search and data sets, as well as the library website.

Versa District Partners Training

Florida Department of Education - Bureau of Educator Certification 

The Bureau of Educator Certification at the Florida Department of Education is responsible for evaluating, granting, and maintaining licensure for Florida educators. The bureau offers its certification partners in Florida’s school districts training and other resources to assist with their responsibilities. In 2017, the bureau launched a new software system, called Versa, to handle its licensing processes and needed to provide training on the system to district partners and staff. CIMES developed web-based training, video demos, and print-based job aids to prepare current and new employees to use the Versa system.

Sample Collection Training for Food Inspectors

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services - Division of Agricultural Environmental Services

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services oversees food sampling throughout Florida for adulteration and misbranding. Existing training was delivered face-to-face, once a year. CIMES developed a web-based training solution that standardizes food sampling procedures for all employees across the state and can be accessed at any time, without the need for a formal training meeting. The training serves as an orientation for new hires and a refresher for current food inspectors.

Florida Department of Transportation - Transportation Data Analytics Office

The Florida Department of Transportation collects data for a national-level information system known as the Highway Performance Monitoring System. CIMES worked closely with the HPMS expert to identify the knowledge, processes, procedures, skills, and aptitudes technicians need to perform the data collection tasks. CIMES then developed web-based training that includes scenarios with multiple solutions and assessments that provide rich feedback to help model behavior, deepen understanding, and promote transfer of learning.

Open Doors Outreach Network Training

Voices for Florida

The Open Doors Outreach Network was launched by Voices for Florida in 2016 as part of a coordinated effort to address service gaps for victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Through a network of partner organizations, ODON provides a coordinated system of care that is supported by trauma-competent best practices and translational research. The Open Doors model uses teams that consist of a survivor-mentor, a regional advocate, and a clinician. CIMES developed training to support the development of knowledge and skills that ensure fidelity to ODON’s service model, leading to standardized quality care regardless of location.

Open Doors Outreach Network Evaluation

Voices for Florida

The Voices for Florida Open Doors Outreach Network seeks to improve care, coordination, and outcomes for commercially sexually exploited and trafficked children. The network uses an innovative approach that engages teams of survivor-mentors, regional advocates, and clinicians to provide 24/7 care to recovering victim. CIMES developed a performing a developmental evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the service model at the current pilot sites. The study will also identify which aspects of the model need to be maintained and sustained as it is being implemented at new sites and which aspects of the model can be modified to fit the local needs of partner organizations.

Trauma-Informed Approach for Patrol Officers

Florida Council Against Sexual Violence

This short, high-impact web-based training can be used in group roll-call situations at law enforcement agencies or viewed by patrol officers on their own. The module uses video interviews with a police captain, a state attorney, a trauma expert, and an advocate to deliver its core message about the effects of trauma and encourage officers to adopt trauma-informed approaches. It also includes a practice scenario in which officers are presented with multiple-choice options for how to respond to a "victim" at various points in the law enforcement interview.
