Nebraska Health and Human Services

The Division of Health Promotion and Tobacco is responsible for preventative and community health programs and services, such as Tobacco Free Nebraska. CIMES developed a multi-level information/program/business management system called the Tobacco Resource and Information Network to support the effectiveness of programs and services implemented by local grantees as part of Tobacco Free Nebraska. CIMES also created the Tobacco Free Nebraska Virtual Clearinghouse, where local grantees upload materials they have developed to share with other grantees, communities, and families across the state.

- English Language Institute
The English Language Institute at the University of Florida needed a centralized business management system. The institute’s disparate methods and systems needed to be brought together into one over-arching system to facilitate all business and prograrm operations. CIMES created an integrated portal and database that handles the application, registration, evaluation, courses, grading, and billing systems.

The Motion web portal was created for the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts as a program management system. The application is role-based, integrated, scalable, and supports managing people, assessments, courses, and projects. The application also provides interfaces to collect, manage, track, and report project and assessment information.

- Bureau of Educator Certification
This four-minute video usis whiteboard animation to introduce new educator certification applicants to the online certification process and helps them through typical "sticking points" in that application process. The video is fast-paced and includes many screen shots and action animations to illustrate specific steps in the application process. It also employs animated characters and humor to keep viewers engaged throughout the short video.

CIMES developed web-based training for novice epidemiologists and nurses in Florida’s counties. The training includes introductions to epidemiology, infectious diseases, surveillance, outbreak investigations, and collaboration for public health. The modulesconclude with application tasks that allow learners to assess their progress at the end of the course.

The Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic located in the Psychology Department at Florida State University was funded by the military to develop web-based intervention programs in the areas of stress and social isolation.The objective of the web-based intervention was to help participants combat the feeling of social isolation by providing them with information on recognizing symptoms, dispelling common misconceptions, and suggesting coping mechanisms.A multi-dimensional approach was taking to provide a rich experience for the user that included videos of subject matter experts as well as video scenarios demonstrating content organized by seven myths of social isolation.

The Clearinghouse for Applied Research and Public Service provides information services and products to support the State University System of Florida Board of Governors and its mission to promote Florida universities’ talent and resources. The Clearinghouse hosts several key web-based systems, including Florida ExpertNet, the Centers & Institutes Reporting system, and the Graduate Recruitment System.

Voices for Florida
The Voices for Florida Open Doors Outreach Network seeks to improve care, coordination, and outcomes for commercially sexually exploited and trafficked children. The network uses an innovative approach that engages teams of survivor-mentors, regional advocates, and clinicians to provide 24/7 care to recovering victim. CIMES developed a performing a developmental evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the service model at the current pilot sites. The study will also identify which aspects of the model need to be maintained and sustained as it is being implemented at new sites and which aspects of the model can be modified to fit the local needs of partner organizations.
